Now the 36-year old from Yellowknife is getting more international attention after releasing a video project about the lasting effects of bullying. On February 25, 2013, the Canadian Government appears before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal to answer allegations that it is discriminating against First Nations children by providing flawed and inequitable child welfare services on reserve. Children and young people from across Canada prepared this video so that the Tribunal could understand why this case is important to all children in Canada but the Canadian Government opposed it. 10 year old Ottawa Boy is Awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal
A 10 year old Ottawa boy was honoured this past week with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. Tommy Glatzmayer was recognized for raising awareness about a rare syndrome afflicting his sister, and for teaching his peers about acceptance. Read more.
Low Birth Rate and Later Depression
Boys born with a low birth weight could be at increased risk of suffering from depression during adolescence. This is the suggestion of new research from Canada that looked at 3,732 young people from the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth who were evaluated in 2006 and 2007 for symptoms of depression and anxiety.

For boys, being overweight or obese significantly lowers their quality of life compared to healthy weight peers. Interestingly, these results were not found in girls.
