The Language of Love...Written and Performed by a 17 Year Old

If you watch only one video this week/month then let it be The Language of Love, about 17 year old Charlie who struggles to find the words to be true to himself...and his best friend.  It's a wry, delicate take on first love and awakening sexuality from a young man's perspective.  The video is written and performed by the brilliant Kim Ho.

When law student RaphaĆ«lle Ferland goes to one of her speaking engagements, she's often the only presenter without a Ph.D.  She's also the only one who has lived on the streets.  Ferland, 23, had a nomadic childhood, attending 14 different schools before she "stopped counting."  by 16, she was homeless, making it all the more impressive that she graduated at the top of her class and was accepted into law school.  Read all profiles.  

Canada ranked 17th out of 29 countries in child well being index by UNICEF

Canada ranked very low in the category of health and safety, ahead of only Latvia and Romania.  According to UNICEF, the category looked at such things as infant mortality, low birth weight, national immunization and overall child and youth mortality.
